Sofaboats gives you advice on how to design your own custom-made sofas

About Us

Designing your furniture begins the minute you decide to create that statement in the area of your choice. , we will help every step of the way. Together we can create truly unique designs. To aid you in your decision we can arrange a site visit, when we can put your ideas on paper and you can see fabric and leather swatches in the area you are designing.

Design does not stop with the norm
. Have you ever wished that you could take the part you like from one sofa and add it to the best part of another? You like the shape but would like it in a different colour, fabric or leather, well At Sofaboats this is not a problem. We help you design your furniture from the ground up. You want formal firm seats or soft fibre cushions, no problem. Our options are endless. The choice really is all yours.

Fabric or leather. Most of Sofaboats designs are available in any covering of your choice. This is where Sofaboats is very rarely rivalled. We have available hundreds of fabrics, leathers and vinyl on show, in fact, if we don't have the covering, it probably doesn't exist.  We have fabric to suit commercial or domestic use. All fabrics are Fire retardant to Standard but can be upgraded to Source 5.

Once you are happy with your design and all the decisions are down on paper, or you have clicked all the options, the magic that is Sofaboats begins. The hardwood frame is created in the frame shop, by true craftsmen. When your chosen cover arrives in the cutting room, a qualified time served cutter with years of experience adjusts the patterns and cuts out your sofa or furniture. Fabric such as Tartans and stripe patterns can’t be generally cut out using a computer as it all has to match. The pieces are marked and then transferred to the sewing room. Here is where highly experienced machinists turn your cut-out pieces into the covers used to upholster your unique design. Using Saddle stitch, overlocking, top stitch and piping they give the finish you chose. The covers then pass to the upholsterer, the artisan with the skills to put all the elements together. This is not mass market; each piece of your furniture is created by one upholsterer following your explicit instructions for the look, feel and finish you require.
Custom made design and build stage to this standard does not happen overnight. We quote on average 4 to 6 weeks subject to your design and availability on the fabric, leather or vinyl of your choice.

Delivery. The final stage of the bespoke service is delivery to you. All Sofaboats deliveries are carried out by our own trained fitters, so really all you have to worry about is your next voyage
